Altantan is a moisturizing medicinal product for use in hyperkeratosis of the skin, supporting wound healing.

1 g ointment contains 20 mg of allantoin.
Excipients: lanolin, liquid paraffin, white petrolatum, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, propylene glycol, purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Alantan ointment is intended for topical application to the skin.    Alantan should be applied gently to affected areas 2 to 3 times daily, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.     A small amount of ointment can be applied to a sterile compress and applied to the cleaned wound. The dressing should be changed once or twice a day.
Action
Allantoin contained in Alanthan affects the skin through: • keratolytic (exfoliating) effect, • stimulation of new tissue growth, • protective effect on the skin, • improving skin hydration.
Used regularly in excessive keratinization of the skin, it can prevent excessive deposition of keratin
indications
Alantan ointment is used in the case of: • treatment of difficult to heal wounds, burns (including sunburns), • treatment of chronic inflammation of the skin with excessive exfoliation and keratosis (atopic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and other skin diseases), • treatment of shallow ulcers, skin and mucous membrane defects.
Contraindications
When not to use Alantan? • if you are allergic to allantoin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. • for the eyes, • for acute inflammation of the skin, with exudate.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Frequency not known: • hypersensitivity reactions, • skin irritation.
Warnings and precautions • Due to the content of lanolin, propyl glycol, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, the product may cause local skin irritation. • Alantan can be used within 6 months of the first use, without exceeding the expiry date stated on the packaging. • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. • Store below 25 ° C in the original packaging.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
